The innovative treatment is carried out by the Head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Prof. Oded Nahlieli, in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Barzilai Medical Center.
Until recently, jaw implants were performed completely blindly relying on X-rays and CT scans.
The unique endoscope enables precise insertion while performing surgical procedures that until now required extensive surgery that caused the patient suffering as well as considerable risks and damage to nerves and nearby anatomic structures.
Dozens of transplants with the new innovative methods were successfully performed at Barzilai Medical Center so far. In addition a unique implant that completes the endoscope was developed in a way that enables vision through the implant as well as injecting bone substitutes and medications.
All of the mentioned techniques and instrument are the results of Israeli development
