Main Fields of Operation
The unit treats patients with acute myocardial infarction, and patients suffering from other diseases of heart function that require thorough monitoring and follow-up such as arrhythmias, cardiac insufficiency, or unstable angina.
The unit also treats patients after catheterization treatment with artery expansion using a balloon and a stent, after electro-physiological examination of the heart (electrical catheterization of the heart) and treatment with radio waves to stop arrhythmias, patients that had a pacemaker or defibrillator implant, and patients that need electrical inversion.
After dealing with the acute phase of the disease, the unit focuses on diagnosing and treating the risk factors of the patients in order to minimize any additional damage that might take place. The intention of the treatment is to allow patients to recover and return to their everyday lives. The unit has state of the art equipment for monitoring cardiac emergency situations and treating them.
The medical team works in full coordination with all of the other cardiology specialists in the medical center to determine the best treatment for the patients. Every day, a clinical discussion on every inpatient is held, and it includes physicians from different areas of cardiology, and other specialists from different departments in the medical center if needed.
