Patient visitations:

 

Family members and guests wishing to visit patients are requested to respect visiting hours and rest hours of the patients, as they appear in each department. Visits of family members and other visitors conclude at the latest by 21:00 during the months of the summer-time clock and in the winter months at 20:00.

One visitor may remain at the bedside of the patient with special approval of the Head of Department. The Charge Nurse of the Department will issue the approval at the professional consideration of the Department Head and the Charge Nurse.

The visiting public is requested to heed the instructions of the Charge Nurses and the security personnel.


Receipt of Medical Information Concerning Patients:

Hospitalized patients at the Center are requested to state, on their hospital admission forms upon admittance, the names of people authorized by them to receive medical information regarding their condition. Providing medical information concerning those hospitalized is in accordance with the Patient’s Rights Law and exclusively to those people authorized by the patient.

Signs stating the hours of providing information about patients appear in every department next to the nurses’ station.

Any patient requesting to prevent disclosure of his hospitalization at the Center must do so upon admittance and to the Charge Nurse of the department in which he is hospitalized.


Meals for the Hospitalized:

 

Meals for those hospitalized are served in accordance with the dietary restrictions of each and every person.

Breakfast is served at 08:00.

Lunch is served at 12:00.

Dinner is served between 17:00-18:00.

The religious public may order Badatz Kosher meals. Please contact the In-Charge Nurse of the Department.

During Passover, it is forbidden to bring any food that is not kosher for passover ("chame") to the hospital.



Smoking at the Hospital:

 

Smoking is prohibited in the patients’ rooms, the hospitalization departments, stairwells, elevator foyer and in all interior areas. Smoking is permitted solely in open areas. Smoking harms both healthy people and hospitalized patients and it is mandatory to preserve clean air in order to enable the rapid recovery of the patients. There are oxygen and medical gas systems at the hospital that could ignite or intensify the fire if it breaks out.

Patients and visitors are requested to respect the Law Prohibiting Smoking in Public Places and to refrain from unnecessary confrontations with hospital staff and the security personnel. Enforcement of the Law Prohibiting Smoking in Public Places is carried out regularly by the Ashkelon Municipality inspectors.


Valuables:

 

The administration of the Barzilai Medical Center recommends that patients being admitted for hospitalization do not bring valuables and money with them. In cases of urgent hospitalization it is recommended to give valuables and money to family members for safekeeping. If a patient arrives urgently without an escort to the hospital, it is recommended to deposit the valuables in the admissions office safe. Further details can be obtained from the Department Charge Nurse.

False teeth should be stored in a special box that the patient will receive in the department upon admission.

The hospital is not responsible for the loss of valuables that were not deposited with the admissions office.


Cable Television Services:

Any patient may rent bedside cable television services. For further details please contact the Mediphone desk near the Information Booth directly or by internal telephone 8088, or the Charge Nurse of the Department who will order the company technician for you.


Fast Food and Cafeteria Services:

Throughout the hospital vending machines are located for hot and cold beverages, snacks and ice cream. A dairy cafeteria is at the service of visitors in the passageway to the Gynecology Department, and a meat cafeteria and dairy bar are located on the entrance floor of the hospitalization building. Opening hours are between 08:30-21:00. The cafeterias are manned by volunteers from the YAEL program and the income is dedicated to the welfare of the patients.

Synagogue:

The synagogue is located in the corridor leading to the Geriatric Department and is available to patients and visitors.

Prayer hours:

"Mincha" is at 13:30.

"Aravit" is 20 minutes after sundown.

On the Sabbath and Festivals Shacharit usually takes place.

The key to the synagogue can be found at the hospital’s Information Booth and can be obtained in exchange for depositing an identification document.

The synagogue is intended to serve the entire public.

Those praying in the synagogue are requested to maintain the cleanliness of the synagogue.


Parking on the Grounds of the Hospital:

 

Entry by vehicle to the grounds of the hospital is by means of two gates.

Histadrut Gate:

The Histadrut Street (Eastern) Gate is open for entry of vehicles until 17:00 and for exit of vehicles at all hours of the day and night (24/7).

Gate for exit of pedestrians is open 24/7.

The Sea (Western) Gate:

Open at all hours of the day and night (24/7).

The administration and staff of the Medical Center make every effort to make your stay at with us easier and therefore we have made available for you a Parking Monitoring Center at telephone no.

The center is located at the entrance floor of the west hospitalization building and supplies a response to all queries regarding parking.

This center is manned 24/7.


Parking and Parking Lots

 

Parking at the Barzilai Medical Center entails a payment.

The payment for a day of parking (including taxis) is 20 Nis. The first 30 minutes - are free.

After payment the cardholder is entitled to enter and exit the parking lot without restriction in the same vehicle until 23:59 from the time of entry.

In order to avoid delays upon exiting, it is recommended to pay for the parking at the automatic machines located at the main entrances, prior to reaching the exit.

The monitoring and customer services center is located at the entrance floor of the west hospitalization building.

The monitoring and customer services center operates 24 hours a day. In case of a fault or other problem, please press the “help” button on the card machine and payment machines and wait for a human response, which is operational 24 hours a day. You can also seek assistance from the security personnel at the main entrance to the hospital. Monthly passes can be purchased for NIS 220 on Sundays to Thursdays, between the hours of 08:00-15:00.


Important

 

The monthly pass must be used according to the instructions delivered at the time of purchase.

If the monthly pass is not used at the entry and exit, the customer will be debited for parking at the full price.

Discounts

Patients hospitalized for more than 14 days are entitled to purchase a discounted monthly pass or 10 one-time entry tickets upon presentation of an authorization from the hospitalization department -  details are available at the Parking Monitoring Center.

Patients in hospitalization departments are entitled to an exemption from payment after 30 days from the commencement of hospitalization. The patients’ escorts must bring authorization from the department when approaching the parking offices. The exemption applies only to a single vehicle!


Exemptions from payment

 

Vehicles remaining on the hospital grounds for up to 30 minutes.

IDF vehicles with a black license plate.

Police vehicles with a red license plate.

Vehicle with a valid Ministry of Transport invalids tag, with the license number of the tag matching that of the vehicle.

Ambulatory patients arriving to the clinic twice or more each week, for at least a month are entitled to an exemption from parking payment from the first day of treatment and for a period of 30 days. The patients must contact the parking offices with an authorization regarding treatment from the clinic.

Patients in the following departments are also entitled to an exemption from parking payment from the first day of hospitalization. The exemption is valid for a single vehicle and valid for 30 days.

The patients must contact the parking offices with an authorization from the department.

The departments are: Premature Infants, Adult and Pediatric Oncology.

The automatic payment machines are located throughout the Barzilai Medical Center:

At the exit from the Central Administration Building - 1 payment machine.

In the Emergency Room Waiting Area - 1 payment machine.

West Hospitalization Building near the entrance floor – 1 payment machine.

Along the exit route through the gates of the Center the payment can only be made by credit card


An ATM is located at the main entrance to the Administration Building.


Vehicle starting service

 

The service is provided by the Security Department by means of the security vehicle. The service is at the sole responsibility of the vehicle owner/driver.

Accessibility for the handicapped on wheelchairs:

The Barzilai Medical Center invests considerable efforts to ensure accessibility of the handicapped to the various facilities at the hospital.

The main entrance and entrance to the Hospitalization Building have wide and lowered courses.

Entrance doors to all hospitalization departments are wide.

Doors to the toilets and showers in the hospitalization departments are wide.

The beds in the hospitalization departments and the stretchers in the Emergency Room are of the High-Low type and can be adjusted to the height of the wheelchair.

Elevators have wide doors and wide interiors.

A dedicated area has been assigned for unloading the handicapped next to the Dialysis and the Hemato-Oncology Institutes.

The entrance to the Oncology Institute is wide and lowered and soon the repair of the internal access road will be completed.

The entrance to the Dental Clinic for High Risk patients is lowered and wide.

Some of the public telephones have been installed at a height suited to the height of a wheelchair.

Access to the cafeteria has been adapted for those in wheelchairs.


Cleaning and gardening

The Barzilai Medical center invests considerable resources in cultivating the environment, gardening and cleanliness of the premises and grounds of the Center. For five years in succession, the Barzilai Medical Center has been awarded with "5 stars of beauty" as the most beautiful hospital in Israel competition and in 2005 won a gold star. It also won the competition for the best decorated air raid shelter in 2012.

Patients and visitors are kindly requested to maintain the cleanliness of the Center and the furniture for the benefit of all. Garbage bins are dispersed throughout the premises of the Center. Please refrain from extinguishing cigarettes on the floor or benches.


Public telephones:

Public telephones are located for the benefit of patients and visitors on every floor of the Hospitalization Building, next to the hospital’s Information Booth, adjacent to the operating rooms, Gynecology Department and the Outpatient Clinics building. Prepaid telephone cards can be purchased at the YAEL cafeterias.


Representatives of the Health Management Organizations (HMOs) at the Barzilai Medical center:

Any query regarding payment undertakings for hospitalization, visits to outpatient clinics and consultation and guidance prior to discharge can be forwarded during the morning hours to the liaison nurse of the HMO to which the patient belongs.

Public toilets

There are public toilets for the benefit of visitors on all floors of the Hospitalization Building, adjacent to the cafeteria on the entrance floor, next to the Information Booth, in the Emergency Room waiting area, in the Operating Room waiting area and in the outpatient clinics. Most of the toilets are adapted for wheelchair access.
