One of the foundations for providing qualitative medical treatment and maintaining continuity of treatment are medical records and all their components.
Medical records include documentation of hospitalization, lab tests, auxiliary tests, patients' medical history, hospitalization summary or outpatient visits and communication with community physician in order to give the patient appropriate and continuous treatment.
In recent years, the Ministry of Health has developed software through which a computerized patient record, that includes all the activities during his hospitalization, can be managed and brings the entire required data to hospitalization summary letter.
The Barzilai Medical Center management has decided to join this important project. In early November
two Internal Medicine Departments started using the software documentation system and
other departments and institutes will join them gradually.
As planned by Dr. Chezy Levy, Medical Director of the Barzilai Medical Center, the entire medical center will be connected and work through the software by the end of 2013.
This process involves the purchase of computing equipment and participation in development, and despite great budget required for such upgrading, the Barzilai Medical Center management have made a strategic decision to progress into this new era and to further enhance service quality and safety at the medical center.
