Barzilai is ready

The hospital is ready for chemical warfare  
 "Barzilai" is well prepared for non-conventional attacks
The medical center is well prepared to treat casualties of non-conventional weapons – in this words Dr. Dani Laor, Head of the Emergency Operations Branch of the Ministry of Defense and the Commander of Southern Medical Corps concluded the preparedness drill for treatment of chemical warfare casualties.
On 24/06/2010 Barzilai Medical Center with assistance of Home Front Command carried out a drill of receiving and treating chemical warfare casualties.
The drill was preceded by numerous preparations and briefings of hospital staff. Employees of all hospital sectors participated in the drill during which new kits were tested and lessons from previous drills and exercises were implemented.
During the drill about 160 simulated casualties with various injuries were absorbed. The exercise examined the absorption processes, decontamination, and treatment at all sites as well as the operation of information center. In addition, the pathology site was practiced for the first time including processes of absorbing fatal casualties and the relation with the fatal casualties' data unit.
Teams of Home Front Command, Medical Corps Headquarter, Hadassah Medical Center and Bnei Zion hospital controlled the exercise and a delegation from the French Defense Ministry observed it as well with large interest.
At the end of the exercise all controllers expressed their admiration of the hospital preparedness for treating casualties of chemical warfare. They noted the seriousness of the teams participating in the exercise and the medical knowledge displayed by the medical teams.
At the end of the exercise Dr. Dani Laor Head of the Emergency Operations Branch of the Ministry of Defense and the Commander of Southern Medical Corps concluded that the hospital is well prepared and ready for absorption and treatment of chemical warfare casualties and that residents of the area can be reassure that the hospital that serves them faithfully in routine is well prepared to serve them at times of emergency
